Summer brain drain is a real threat that can affect your child over their break. It occurs when a student neglects their studies during their summer vacation, causing them to forget everything they have learned in the previous school year. To prevent this from happening to your child, continue reading.

How to Prevent Summer Brain Drain

Review the Notes

If you want your student to be able to remember what they learned in school the previous year by the time summer vacation ends, encourage them to review their notes over the break so that they can reinforce their knowledge.

Help Them Practice

Practice makes perfect; and often, not practicing can have the exact opposite effect. If you don't want your child's academic skills to waste away because they aren't being used, help them practice by giving them worksheets to complete.

Talk with Your Child

When you talk about school subjects with your child, you're inadvertently helping them practice and use their knowledge, so be sure to engage them in conversations about history, math, science, etc.

Take Them on Field Trips

A fun activity that will help your child learn more over summer break is to take them on educational field trips. A visit to the museum, zoo, or library can get them excited to learn more, even during the break.
